The Nilgiri Mountains lie where the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka meet. Their highest point is Doddabetta, about 2,637 meters high. People call them the "Blue Mountains" because of a rare flower called Neelakurinji that blooms only once in twelve years and turns the hills bluish. This range joins the Western and Eastern Ghats and is known for its cool weather, green valleys, and wildlife. Ooty, often called the "Queen of Hills," is part of this region.
